Three slots
are vacant and the current board members have been serving for
near ten years. Board members organize the reunions every two
years, keep the database and Web site current, answer queries
from members and others, publish and mail newsletters
and rosters, collect dues/donations and act on new initiatives
that come from members.
Nominations
for new board members are greatly needed. Please
consider volunteering and/or excite
others that have the time/energy to help out.
Nominations
can be submitted to any board member at anytime.
(2) The annual
newsletter and member roster are published and mailed (depending
on available volunteers) to
all members at standard bulk rates normally sometime between
March and July of each
year; they will not be forwarded by the US Postal Service. Therefore,
please remember
to forward address and other data changes as soon as possible
to Steve Walden our volunteer AWA
Locator. Please include the same information as detailed on the membership
application - including any changes to the "Release of Information" section.
(3) Tax deductible contributions are always accepted by the Treasurer to help
defray costs
of publishing, mailing and providing the annual John and Barbara Collens AWA
Award
grants to the five Outstanding AF Weather personnel of the Year (Company Grade
Officer,
Senior NCO, NCO, Airman and Civilian of the Year).
(4) The Newsletter Editor would appreciate member news submissions and more
advertisements.
(5) If you detect any errors in the roster or you know the address of missing
members, please inform Steve Walden as soon as possible to help ensure the
AWA
locator database is current and accurate. Many thanks to Freeman Smith who
kept the
AWA database updated for over 12 years. He is now our Locator Emeritus continuing
to
provide changes and advice, but hopefully now spending more time with family & friends
than with the computer.
