COLONEL JOHN L. HAYES

Col. John L. Hayes, who assumed command of the Air Weather Service in ceremonies held at Scott AFB, Ill Friday, 12 September 1997 will command the new Air Force Weather Agency when AWS is redesignated as such on 15 October 1997 at Offutt AFB, Neb.

Hayes, a native of Toledo, Ohio, was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Bowling Green State University. In August 1970, he entered active duty as a meteorology student at the University of Oklahoma.

Hayes is married to the former Sharon Marie Ciprian of Bedford, Ohio. They have three children, Laurel, Jennifer, and Marc.
